What happens at a waterproofing inspection?
Every inspection we do is free. Here's what we look at, what we can and can't tell from it and what you get afterwards.
Before the visit
Note when the leak appears and any past repairs. Clear the area if you can. For apartments, tell us about parking, access and building rules. Photos sent beforehand help us prepare.
What we look at
- The tiled surface: grout, silicone, cracked or loose tiles and tiles that sound hollow
- Junctions: corners, hobs, step-downs, door sills, perimeter joints and balustrade fixings
- Drainage: floor wastes, balcony outlets, falls and ponding
- Where water shows up: ceilings, skirting, walls, slab edges and the pattern of staining
- Signs it's something else: plumbing, windows, the roof or a neighbouring area
What it can and can't tell you
A visual inspection picks up failed grout and joints, loose tiles, drainage problems and, in many cases, the likely source. It can't see the membrane or the pipes inside walls without removing finishes. If the evidence points to plumbing or a failed membrane, we'll say so.
What you receive
A free written quote covering the area, the method, what's excluded, any other trade needed and the warranty that applies. If our repair isn't suitable, we'll explain why and what the alternative involves.
Questions worth asking any contractor
- What do you think is causing the leak, and how sure are you?
- What exactly is included and excluded?
- What warranty applies, and on what conditions?
- How long before I can use the area again?
Every property is different. This guide is general information, not a diagnosis of your leak. Book a free inspection for advice on yours.
Leaking shower or balcony?
We'll inspect it and quote for free, anywhere in Sydney. If the tiles are sound, we can usually stop the leak without lifting them. The sealing product we use carries a manufacturer's product warranty of up to 25 years, under the manufacturer's terms.
