Roof waterproofing for concrete and flat roofs

We repair, not replace. Flat and concrete roofs rely on a membrane to keep water out, and when it wears or splits, or the details around it fail, water gets into the building. We repair roof membranes on concrete and flat roofs across Sydney, including parapets, penetrations, box gutters and awnings.

If your roof is pitched, tiled or metal, you need a roofer.

Why flat roofs leak

Sun and heat break down exposed membranes. The weak points are where the roof meets a parapet or wall, around penetrations and at box gutters and outlets. Water that ponds because of a blocked outlet or poor falls puts more pressure on those spots. That's why many flat roofs only leak in heavy rain. Read why flat roofs leak in heavy rain.

A roof leak can travel a long way inside before it shows on a ceiling, so we inspect the whole roof, not only the area above the stain.

Roof membrane repairs

Where the membrane is sound overall but has failed in places, we repair the damaged areas and reseal the details around them. Where it's worn across the roof, we can apply a liquid membrane coat over the prepared existing surface. We'll tell you what the inspection found and what we recommend.

Concrete roof waterproofing and sealing

Concrete roof slabs crack with movement and temperature changes. We seal the cracks and joints and apply a membrane suited to the slab, so water can't get through the concrete into the rooms below.

How a roof job runs

  1. Safe access. We confirm how we'll get up there: ladder, hatch or building approval.
  2. Free inspection. We check the membrane, falls, outlets, box gutters, parapets and penetrations.
  3. Written quote. It sets out the repair, the areas included and what's excluded.
  4. Preparation. We clean and prepare the surface.
  5. Repair and cure. We repair the details, then apply the membrane and let it cure in dry weather.

How much does roof waterproofing cost?

It depends on the roof area, access, the condition of the membrane and how many details need repair. Repairing a few areas costs far less than treating the whole roof. The inspection and quote are free.

Roof waterproofing questions

Do you repair tiled or metal pitched roofs?

No. We only work on concrete and flat roofs. For a pitched roof, call a roofer.

Can a new membrane go over the existing one?

Often, yes, if the existing surface is sound and well bonded. The inspection confirms it.

Do you repair box gutters?

Yes. We repair and reseal box gutters and outlets on flat roofs. We don't replace gutters or flashing.

How do you inspect a roof safely?

We only go up where there's safe access. Tell us how the roof is reached when you book.
