Warranty and scope information

Two different things can apply to a repair: a manufacturer's product warranty and our workmanship terms. Both are set out in your written quote. Here's how they differ.

Product warranty (from the manufacturer)

Some penetrating waterproofing products carry a manufacturer's product warranty. For eligible systems this can be up to 25 years. A product warranty covers the product itself, is provided under the manufacturer's terms and conditions and depends on the specific product, correct installation and project documentation. A product warranty is not a guarantee that a property will never leak, and it does not cover every repair or every possible source of water.

Workmanship (from us)

Our workmanship terms (what is covered, for how long and on what conditions) are stated in your written quote for the specific job. Please ask us before you accept if anything is unclear.

Non-invasive repairs are subject to inspection and suitability

Repairing a tiled area from the surface (removing failed grout and sealant, regrouting, resealing and applying a penetrating treatment) suits some areas and not others. We recommend it only after assessing the area, and we will tell you if a different scope is needed. A surface treatment of the tiles does not replace or repair the original concealed waterproofing membrane unless membrane replacement is specifically quoted and carried out.

What a surface treatment does not cover

Unless expressly included in your written quote, a non-invasive treatment does not address:

  • failure of the concealed membrane beneath the tiles
  • plumbing leaks, including taps, pipes, wastes and connections
  • blocked, undersized or failed drainage, and incorrect falls
  • structural movement and cracking of the slab or walls
  • adjoining areas that were not treated
  • concealed or pre-existing building defects

The place where water becomes visible is not always where it gets in. Water can travel beneath tiles, screeds and adjoining elements before it shows, so the source of a leak may be outside the treated area.

Looking after the repair

  • Allow the full curing time stated in your quote before using the area.
  • Ventilate bathrooms after use and squeegee shower walls.
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners. Avoid harsh acids and bleach on grout and sealant.
  • Keep balcony drainage outlets clear of leaves and debris.
  • Tell us early if you notice cracking sealant or new signs of water.

Your written quote and the warranty documents provided with it take precedence over this summary.

Leaking shower or balcony?

We'll inspect it and quote for free, anywhere in Sydney. If the tiles are sound, we can usually stop the leak without lifting them. The sealing product we use carries a manufacturer's product warranty of up to 25 years, under the manufacturer's terms.
