Leaking shower repair in Parramatta without removing the tiles
A leaking shower in Parramatta, close to our base. We didn't go over the old material: we cut out all the old silicone, raked out the old grout, renewed it, resiliconed every edge and sealed the shower in about 2 hours, without removing a tile.

We remove the old grout and silicone. We don't go over the top of it
A lot of shower "repairs" just run new silicone or a grout paste over the old material. It looks fine for a while, but the new layer has nothing sound to bond to, so water keeps getting in underneath and the leak comes back. We rake the old grout out of the joints and cut every piece of old silicone out before anything new goes in. That's what makes the repair last.
What the mid-job photo shows
The first photo was taken partway through the job. The strips on the floor are the old silicone we cut out of the corners, the hob and the screen junction. Old silicone like this peels away from the tile once it fails, leaving a gap where water runs behind the tiles. Replacing it completely, rather than running new silicone over the top, is what stops the leak.

- Cut out all the old silicone from the corners, hob and screen junction.
- Raked out the old grout.
- Regrouted the shower.
- Resiliconed every edge and junction.
- Sealed the shower and left it to cure for 24 hours.
